How we are funded

Customers from local support organisations are provided with a game of Park Gowf, followed by tea/coffee and biscuits, all free of charge.  This is to ensure that we deliver our objective of providing barrier-free access to socialising and having fun playing golf, to people of all ages and abilities.

It is therefore important that we establish channels of income which will enable us to continue to do this.

Grants and Donations

The vast majority of the charity's funding is sourced from grants and donations.

2022:  All of what we do would not have been possible without the support of a £10,650 grant from the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund through Fife Voluntary Action and Scottish Government.  This substantial funding enabled us to cover all the set up costs - clubs, balls, insurances etc, as well as some operating costs such as tea/coffee biscuits etc.

In addition, we have been able to obtain smaller, but important, grants from Kingdom Housing's Community Initiatives Fund and ALDI's Scottish Sport Fund. Donations were also gratefully received from Alwyn Charities Committee and BP Clair Ridge, in addition to other donations.

2023:  The tremendous success in attracting normally non-sporting members of the community into enjoying the fun and wellbeing benefits of playing sport (golf) provided a solid platform in helping us to reach out further to more adults in the local community.  We successfully applied for a grant from the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund through Fife Voluntary Action and Scottish Government. This money is being used for the purchase of equipment, marketing, insurance, technology, hospitality and other costs.

We were keen to engage with schools to extend the mental health and other benefits of playing park golf to youngsters.  We were successful in receiving a grant from The Our Minds Matter Fund for the purchase of 100 clubs, which will be used by local schools over a 10-week programme, running from the Easter holidays to the summer break.

2024:  The Trustees are grateful to the Scottish Government, through Fife Council and Fife Voluntary Action for the project grants received.  The important work we do to support physical and mental health and wellbeing in the Fife Community would not be possible without such financial assistance.

The Our Minds Matter Fund covered the cost of additional grass cutting at Capshard Primary School, and the Inter-school Park Golf Competition and prizegiving. The Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund supported the purchase of 4 starter packs to help grow Park Golf across Fife, and the hospitality, insurance and marketing costs of expanding the number of community groups now playing park golf.
